Residence Permit: 
Required for stays longer than 6 months and allows students to live and study in Austria legally.

Why It’s Necessary: 
Without a valid visa or residence permit, students cannot legally enter or remain in Austria for their studies. It will also affect access to housing, health insurance, banking and part-time work. (banking is very important for students and many had issues setting up accounts without residence permits) The type of permit required depends on citizenship and programme type.
