Application and Admission Process

In order to apply for one of the Vienna School of International Studies' academic programmes, candidates have to complete and submit the online application form at https://application.da-vienna.ac.at by 1 March (Diploma Programme and MAIS), 15 March (MSc ETIA) or end of March (PhD IIS).

  • Diploma Programme: Once all submitted documents have been examined, the DA informs the applicants whether they are admitted to the entrance examination. By the end of April, candidates are informed whether they have been admitted to the Diploma Programme.
  • MAIS programme: The MAIS Admissions Commission reviews all applications and may, in some cases, invite candidates for an interview. Only applications completed in full are taken into consideration.
  • MSc ETIA programme: The ETIA Admissions Commission reviews all applications and may, in some cases, invite candidates for an interview. Only applications completed in full are taken into consideration.
  • MSc DIA programme: The DIA Admissions Commission reviews all applications and may, in some cases, invite candidates for an interview. Only applications completed in full are taken into consideration.
  • PhD IIS programme: Complete applications are reviewed by the IIS Programme Committee. Candidates may also be required to be available for an interview.

In preparation for the 2023-24 academic year, the Vienna School of International Studies switched to a fully digital application process. All necessary information and documents are to be filled in and uploaded through the da.application platform at https://application.da-vienna.ac.at.

In order to get started, candidates have to create an application account by registering on the da.application platform. This enables candidates to start, save and resume their application at any time.

Depending on the selected programme(s), the application form consists of up to eleven sections. Red, yellow and green colouring helps applicants to identify open (red), partially completed (yellow) and fully completed (green) sections. Your application may be submitted once all required fields have been completed and, hence, all sections are displayed in green. You may pause your application at any time and return later. However, make sure to always save your latest changes on the respective section page.
