Study trips

The Diplomatische Akademie Wien – Vienna School of International Studies (DA) offers a wide range of study trips for students across all its academic programmes, complementing classroom learning with first-hand insights into international institutions, political developments and diplomatic practice.

All first-year students have the opportunity to participate in a study visit to Brussels, the institutional heart of the European Union. In their second year, students may take part in additional study trips to destinations such as the Western Balkans, the Baltic states, Türkiye and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

Through meetings and discussions with policymakers, diplomats and experts, students gain valuable insights into the political, economic and cultural dynamics of the regions they visit. These experiences allow them to connect academic knowledge with real-world developments, broaden their international perspectives and build professional networks.
